Dear TN: Geez, I’ve done some nutty things in my life. But trying to sell cartoons door-to-door isn’t one of them.
Re: Comic Strip Artist
A while back, a stranger came knocking on our door in the early evening here in West Berkeley, offering to sell me the original artwork for cartoons. I’m not fond of having solicitors of any sort come to our door especially at night. And I wanted to get rid of him ASAP.
A quick glance at his ink drawings reminded me of the work of R Crumb. I’m not a fan of cartoons and I wasn’t interested. So I said sorry and quicky closed the door.
What could be more bizarre. A door to door cartoon salesman! Only in Berkeley!
That person I now recognize to be Ace Backwards. I guess he was really trying to help himself. Somehow I don’t think cartoons sell very well door to door. I’m glad to hear that he’s getting some help.
