The City of Berkeley is offering a $15,000 reward, and the Bay Area Crime Stoppers has offered an additional $2,000 reward, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, or suspects, responsible for the city’s only unsolved homicide of 2009.
On May 4, 2009 at 11:29 pm, community members reported hearing gunfire in the 1300 block of 67th Street. Patrol officers found Maurice Robertson, 18, of Berkeley, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds in the rear yard of a home in that block.
A BPD release states that “the family is devastated by the loss of their beloved family member. Charlene Adams, Robertson’s mother said: ‘It would really hurt my heart if I have to live the rest of my life without knowing what happened to my son’.”
Witnesses described “a person of interest” who was seen near the crime scene as a black male, 16-19 years old, 5’08” to 5’10” in height, wearing an orange Northface-style windbreaker jacket.
