Citizen reporter Lee Horowitz sent in this photo of fire engines attending to a fire on Sacramento and Cedar at 7:13 p.m. tonight.

At 7:24 p.m. Cathryn Hrudicka reported on Twitter that she could see and smell smoke and that there was a helicopter circling overhead.

Update, 7:50 p.m.: Berkeleysider Jackson Pritt emailed us the photo below and wrote: “I was walking home from work and noticed four fire vehicles pulled up in front of a house that was smoking. A news chopper was flying overhead, and I managed to snap a couple photographs.”

  1. found myself at a wall of fire engines driving up Cedar St on the way to pick up sushi — the smoke was hanging very low and wafting all the way up to Henry & Shattuck down to about Delaware… When I drove up Francisco St, I could see that the smoke was billowing out of the back yard area — smelled like burning tires.

  2. Was just leaving N. Berkeley BART and noticed the smoke. A minute later the police cars and fire vehicles arrived. I was with my family, so I didn’t walk down to observe. Not sure what was burning or how it started.
