  1. There is an amazing book to be written about the history of the outdoor industry in Berkeley and the Bay Area.  It’s got ingenuity, big personalities, competing leaders and companies, big successes and big failures all set against the backdrop of the growing environmental movement and the interest in being outdoors.  I’ve had a chance to witness only a couple of paragraphs of this “book” and I’m always amazed by the long-standing connections between people and companies in the outdoor industry.
